Well... I've officially ended my one-man boycott of all things X (with the notable exception of Astonishing X-Men).
The cover of Uncanny #497 pulled me in. I love the whole hippie look... and remembered reading somewhere that the X-Men were going to SF... my home town ... and I was really curious about the green guy featured on the cover with Emma... so I broke down and snagged it.
Kinda glad I did. I even picked up the previous two issues. The art is lovely and the storyline seems, thus far, to not be the same ole thing.
The cover of Young X-Men #2 prompted the same reaction. Dani has her powers again? Yay! (I haven't read it yet).
About that green guy with Emma... turns out it's Cyclops. Did anyone else get a green Cyke on the cover of their Uncanny? When I went back to the shop, I saw that all the remaining copies featured Scott as expected.

Re: Back in the X-Fold (& Who's That Green Guy?)
Mon, May 19, 2008 - 6:30 PMThe green Scott etc I think was the colorist/artist attempt at some psychedlia seeing as it is set in SF and was taken back in time to the summer of love. So time to drop and see green cyclops -

Re: Back in the X-Fold (& Who's That Green Guy?)
Mon, May 19, 2008 - 7:08 PMerm... ok. Say I buy that. Why isn't Emma also green? And why isn't he green on any of the other issues. Every copy of Uncanny 497 has Scott with pale skin (like Emma's) except for the copy I bought. And I've checked in two different shops now. -

Re: Back in the X-Fold (& Who's That Green Guy?)
Mon, May 19, 2008 - 9:34 PMIts not unheard of to have things colored wrong. Or that they possibly sent some colored out one way and some colored another way. The one I have Scott isnt pale or green, he is a golden butterscotch color. -

Tue, May 20, 2008 - 5:27 AMI've always been a DC fan and never got into X-Men...
However, I'm X-curious so where do I start?! -

Re: Back in the X-Fold (& Who's That Green Guy?)
Tue, May 20, 2008 - 5:52 AMWell they have a series called X men First class which is a good starter.
Adversely There's the Messiah complex TPB which covers the current status of the x men -

Re: Back in the X-Fold (& Who's That Green Guy?)
Tue, May 20, 2008 - 6:43 AMOh. OK. It's just a twist on the variant cover. Still gotta admit it's odd to change just one aspect of just one character on multiple covers. But, I'm sated.
And, yeah, I read YX... and was disappointed to learn that Dani's still M'd out. Probably won't be reading that for long.
But I'm digging what Ed Brubaker is doing.

Re: Back in the X-Fold (& Who's That Green Guy?)
Wed, May 21, 2008 - 8:56 PMAs per green cyclops...
Marvel is caught up in Skrull fever and has variant covers out and about mingled in with the regulars where one of the characters on the cover is a skrull. Its a little game they are playing with us. I picked up this months cable and lucked out to get a little green baby. -

Re: Back in the X-Fold (& Who's That Green Guy?)
Wed, May 21, 2008 - 10:35 PMThanks Sage. A much more satisfactory explanation. Gee. I hope that doesn't mean Scott has been a Skrull all these years. -

Re: Back in the X-Fold (& Who's That Green Guy?)
Tue, May 27, 2008 - 8:44 AMNo I think most of the covers are just to get notoriety. But yes Sage I had totally forgotten they were doing that.
I think only Beast and Wolverine will be entrenched in the Skrull war. -

Re: Back in the X-Fold (& Who's That Green Guy?)
Fri, May 30, 2008 - 12:56 AMAt the comic shop today and the green scott covers are just varients that they didnt explain. 1 out of every 10 are green faced purportedly.
